Farewells from Team Nepal

We leave on this trip very aware that we are taking a part of so many of you with us. We so appreciate all the support you've given us and we are excited to share our trip with you as we go along. So we decided to try to upload some farewell greetings from each of us. Namaste!

Trinity Bulletin Announcement, Sep. 26

Trinity Is Going to Nepal! (in just five days)

This IS true. While only four of us are going physically, we truly are going as representatives of this loving body of believers. When we first started envisioning this trip, Mohan shared his dreams of us coming and our outrageous goal was to put on a teacher training conference, a marriage conference, and buy three computers for the local high school. We dreamed of raising the $4300 that it would cost to do these three projects. There has been an outpouring of support through Nepal Night and in response to letters we’ve sent to family and friends. To date $11,131.21 has been raised/donated for this trip! $3700 of that will help defray the cost of the plane tickets. The additional funds will go for some projects that Mohan has needed. One of these is a solar lighting system for their training center in Pokhara. That may be installed as soon as this week. They typically only have about 3 hours of electricity per day there. Another need that these funds may be meeting is the replacement of city water pipes that were destroyed in a recent landslide. But somehow, we believe that our presence there in Nepal is going to matter more than “projects” accomplished. Please pray for us that we would have the sensitivity to be Jesus’ loving hands to whomever we meet there. You can follow along on our trip by linking to our daily blog through our church’s website: www.tpcarvada.org. Thank you!

Trinity Bulletin Announcement, Sep. 19

Trinity Is Going to Nepal! (in just two week)

The four of us going as Trinity’s representatives to Nepal are getting very excited as the trip approaches. We will be departing Friday, October 1, flying to San Francisco and then a nineteen-hour flight to Singapore where we will rest before flying on to Kathmandu, Nepal. The following day we will go in a van to Pokhara, which is only about 120 miles away but is a five-hour drive! Memory and Mark Lamfers will be starting the teacher training conference the very next day in Pokhara. Mohan is estimating that about 15 teachers from the local public schools will attend this three-day conference. Probably none of these teachers are Christians, so please pray that our training will not only be enriching for these teachers but also sensitive to the religious and cultural differences. The three-day marriage conference will start the next day. Tom Olschner and Memory Lamfers will be presenting to between 30 and 50 of the Frontier Mission (Youth With a Mission) staff members from all over Nepal. Please pray that we will be good listeners to their experience of marriage so that we might facilitate a time of marriage enrichment for these staff doing church planting work. Also please pray for Bill Wilkin and Mark Lamfers as they work with the children of the YWAM staff those three days. Then we will have about another week left in Pokhara. We plan to spend time with the kids in the orphanage, perhaps visit one or two of the church planting teams, and try to listen to how God might want Trinity to continue to partner with this ministry in Nepal. We’ll be touching back down at DIA on Saturday, October 23. Thank you for your partnership in this! Stay tuned for how you can stay in touch with what we’re doing during the trip.
